2022 Digital Twin Solutions for Smart Farming Competition
PURPOSE
This Competition aims at passing on agricultural and agronomic technologies. By means of digital data collection that is grounded on the big data stored in this common information platform, the Competition is expected to integrate data from various fields to innovate the service technology of digital twin mechanism. This will assist the business owners to build their own technical threshold, expand Taiwan’s agricultural technology outbound, and strengthen the image of Taiwan’s smart agriculture in the world. Through this platform, agricultural experts will guide the students to learn this industry, and the Competition may help attract more IT technicians to dive into this industry, develop agricultural talents in the supply chain of production and marketing, and eventually amplify the effect of smart agriculture.

TOPIC
Digital Twin Solutions for Smart Farming + Carbon Neutral
QUALIFICATIONS
I. Participants:
➢ Current ROC university and college students, team-based
➢ No restriction on nationality, but the team leader must be a ROC citizen
II. Team members:
➢ Team-based registration. Each team requires 1 instructor, and the number of team members is limited to 3-8 persons. Each team must have 1 representative (leader), who serves as the window responsible for contacting the administrator (contact person), handling document submission, and participating in the award ceremony.
➢ This competition encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration. Students from various fields and disciplines, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and sensor technology, can work as a team to inspire each other. The number of industry professionals participating in the team is no more than 1/3 of the total, maximum 2 persons.
➢ Mastering agriculture-related knowledge is essential to digital avatar algorithm. The key to winning the competition is a group of cross-disciplinary members. If the team intends to seek partners in a particular field, please fill in “Seeking Cross-disciplinary Partners” in Annex 4. The administrator will assist in matching the team members.

I. Competition Rules & Scoring Standards
- Competition Rules:
(1).Preliminary Selection:
A.Expert Sharing: The competition invites experts from the industry, government, university, and institute to share their experience regarding digital twin solutions and the related applications, helping the teams to understand the relevance between different data and answering their questions. Team participation is included in the scoring of Preliminary Selection. Teams participated in Expert Sharing gets full score for Expert Sharing Participation.
B.Teams submit their Innovative Service Conception (3-5 pages), as attached in Annex 5.
(2). Secondary Review:
A.Teams build an Expert Forecast Model: Participant teams must conduct analysis on the test/training set and training/test set provided by the co-organizer on Aidea. They will duplicate the expert’s management experience and behavior through “Digital Twin Solutions for Smart Farming,” endlessly optimize the algorithm, and build an “Expert Behavior Forecast Model” to predict the expert’s behavior.
B.Teams submit an Innovative Service Proposal: Participant teams shall be creative in exploring new agricultural techniques. Through digital twin solutions and external data, teams shall adopt scientific, low-carbon emitting, and sustainable agricultural and land management, which enhances production efficiency, reduces carbon emission, and progressively promotes carbon-reduced agricultural constructions. The proposal shall be 10 to 30 pages long.

The Scoring Standards:
Preliminary Selection: Expert Sharing Participation (20%) + Innovative Service Conception (80%)Secondary Review: Expert Forecast Model (50%) + Innovative Service Proposal (50%)
Finale: Expert Forecast Model (30%) + Innovative Service Proposal Presentation (70%)
Point System is adopted for each phase: The points are converted according to the ranking of each judge’s score, and the final score is the total and average score of the seven judges.

※Participants who have won the awards, internship/jobs are obliged to attend to the competition-related publicity activities.
NOTIFICATIONS
1. The content of the entries must comply with legal provisions such as copyrights, patent rights, trademark rights, portrait rights, privacy rights, personal data protection, etc., and must not involve plagiarism, counterfeiting or other violations of the rights of others. Anyone who is reported or reported by others involved in infringement with specific evidence will be disqualified and bear relevant liabilities, and the trophy and the prize money shall be recovered.
2. The copyright of the entries belongs to the participating team and its members. In addition, the organizer and the administrator may enjoy permanent, free, global, non-exclusive and non-transferable rights, including the rights of reproduction, alteration, quotation, public display, public transmission, or distribution via the Internet, to use and put the entries into practice for promotional, display and educational purposes.
3. To record the activities, the organizer and the administrator may take photos and shoot videos or ask the participating teams to provide photos and videos. Members must agree to allow the use, editing, printing, exhibition, publicity, or public display of the above-mentioned personal portraits, names and voices for closing reports or promotional activities free of charge. Participants should participate in the award ceremony, public display, and related promotional activities in accordance with the rules of the competition with the entries. Failure to participate will be deemed to have waived the qualification.
4. The winning team must cooperate with the organizer and the administrator to participate in relevant selection, ceremonies, coaching, display, media interviews, and other related activities, and must cooperate with the organizer and the administrator in follow-up benefit tracking.
5. The prize-receiving team must pay taxes in accordance with the tax law of the Republic of China. The winning team must fill in and submit the relevant documents (e.g. The Prize-receiving Form). If failing to cooperate, it will be deemed to have waived the qualification.
6. If the winning entries are reported as non-original work or fraudulent use of others’ work with specific evidence, the winning team will be disqualified, and the prize money and trophy shall be recovered.
ANNOUNCEMENT
1. In case of force majeure or unmentioned matters, the organizer and the administrator reserve the right to amend the terms, except in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations, and may make additional amendments (including any changes, updates, and amendments to the event). Terms and regulations shall be based on the content announced on the official website.
2. The organizer and administrator reserve the rights to change and explain the content and the schedule of the competition. Matters not covered shall be handled in accordance with the regulations issued by administrator.
RIGHTS & OBLIGATIONS
1. If the participant intends to publish the results (including academic papers) generated from this competition, he/she shall inform the organizer and the company that provides the data and obtain a consent form for the use of data from that company. If there are patent application rights, patent rights, copyrights, products and services derived from the results published for this competition in the year of the competition, within one year after the competition, the companies that provide the data for the finale enjoy the priority to transfer and purchase such technology
2. Results (models) of the winning team shall not be transferred to the competitors of the company that provides data for the finale within three years after the competition. The prize money and trophy will be recovered should there be violations.
OTHERS
1. If a participant violates the rules of this competition or other relevant laws and regulations, the organizer has the right to disqualify the participant or his/her participating team.
2. Participants agree to waive any rights of legal prosecution against the organizers, co-organizers and other sponsors of this competition.
3. The organizer reserves the right to amend the rules of this competition if there are any uncovered matters.
PRIZE MONEY & TAX
The team shall deal with the distribution of work and rights (e.g. collecting the prize and its distribution), and shall handle any internal disputes. The organizer is not involved in administering such matters. The prize money shall be collected by the team leader.
The value or the amount of the prize will be withheld for income tax in accordance with the Income Tax Law (the current Standards of Withholding Rates for Various Incomes stipulates a 10% or 20% deduction of the full amount of the prize money in competitive competitions). The winner will pay the tax according to the tax law of the year without any objection
